The Photography of Lonnie Harkins
Lonnie Harkins
Lusby, MD.
Lonnie Harkins is a self taught photographer who began his photographic journey in 1978 shortly after he joined the U.S. Navy, primarily to document his travels around the World. After a long hiatus to raise a family he acquired a digital SLR camera and has begun pursuing his passion with renewed interest. Lonnie prefers to photograph the Natural World as well as abstracts and macro photography but is not adverse to using the power of the computer to create something wildly different.
Lonnie is currently a member of CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick, MD and Artworks@7th Gallery in North Beach, MD. He has had his work displayed in restaurants, businesses, and juried art shows. In 2013 he was also chosen as a finalist in the 33rd Annual Spring Photography Contest sponsored by Photographer's Forum Magazine and Sigma Lens Company and had his photograph “Orchids” published in the “Best of Photography 2013” coffee table book published by Photographers Forum Magazine. He was recently chosen again as a Finalist in the 34th Annual Spring Photography Contest and has his photograph "Bailey Island Lobster Boat" published in the "Best of Photography 2015".
